William Spindler Obituary

William Maxwell Spindler, 99, of Brookville, PA, passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2023, while a resident at Penn Highlands Jefferson Manor. He was born on November 16, 1924, to the late Charles Ward and Twila May (Corbin) Spindler in Brookville. William proudly served his country with the US Navy as a Signalman Second Class during WWII and was stationed on the USS Elizabeth C. Stanton. He graduated from high school in Corsica and went on to graduate from Freed-Hardeman University with honors. William worked hard wherever he was in life to provide for his family. He held many positions throughout his life including as a social worker for Suffolk County, NY, he also worked as an orderly at Good Samaritan Hospital for twelve years. Following his retirement, William returned home to take care of his mother until her passing at 103 years old. William was a profoundly faithful and devout Christian, he attended church wherever life took him including at Brookville Church of Christ, Roseville Church of Christ; and West Islip Church of Christ. In addition to always attending, William was also an ordained pastor who served at multiple churches including in Willingboro, New Jersey. His last Pastoral position was at the church he co-founded, the Allentown Church of Christ. He was also known to volunteer at bible camps, specifically Camp Shiloh in New Jersey and a camp in West Virginia. William’s desire to help others extended past his home and even country, as he traveled to Honduras on a mission trip. William was a very simple man that wanted nothing more than to care for others and make them happy. His top priority was his family and his children never felt as if they weren’t provided for. William also had immense pride in his country and hometown. He was a good man who always put the needs of others before his own, he will be dearly missed by many. William is survived by five children; William David Spindler; Patricia Diane (Dominic) Alaio; Mark L. (Maria) Spindler; Robin Joy Spindler; Joyce L. (Jeff) Herring; their mother; Jean Hays; seven grandchildren; Charles Spindler; Melissa Spindler; Matthew Alaio; David Alaio; Marie Alaio; Julie Spindler; Jamie Beninger; and numerous great grandchildren.
