Victor Dean Schaffer, 81, of Punxsutawney, passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at Penn Highlands Jefferson Manor. Victor was born on March 2, 1944, to the late Carl M and Alda F. (Marshall) Schaffer in Clearfield County, PA. Victor married Catherine S. Lishinsky on May 5, 1973, in Punxsutawney; she survives him. He was a member of the United States Army stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. Victor worked for a coal stripping company for a while when he first got married then he took a job with Thermal – Gard, a local replacement window manufacturer, where he worked for over twenty years. He then went on to be a custodian for Walmart. Victor was a member of Saints Cosmas and Damian Roman Catholic Church in Punxsutawney. Victor was a generous and kind man who loved being a husband, father, and grandfather. His family meant everything to him. He enjoyed family vacations, the holidays, and little trips with family or friends. He was very creative in that he could express his ideas through drawing, and he was adept at building things with wood. He was a hard worker and always came through as a provider. He enjoyed country music and tv shows and movies centered around the old west and classics of the early years of television. He will be dearly missed by all those that knew him. In addition to his wife, Victor is survived by two children, Damian V. (Jill) Schaffer of Pittsburgh, PA, Veronica S. Schaffer of Greensburg, PA, three grandchildren, Colleen Schaffer, Christopher Schaffer, Brock Schaffer, four brothers, Norman, Leon, Robert, and Fred, and one sister Judy. In addition to his parents, Victor is preceded in passing by five brothers and five sisters. Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at the Fait – d’Argy Funeral Home, 117 N. Jefferson St., Punxsutawney, PA 15767, from 3 – 7pm. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at the Ss. Cosmas and Damian Roman Catholic Church, 616 W. Mahoning St., Punxsutawney, PA 15767 at 11:00am. Interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Punxsutawney, Jefferson Co., PA.
