Velma "Katie" Kathryn Anderson

Velma Kathryn “Katie” Anderson, 86, of DuBois, PA, passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Katie was born on July 11, 1937, to the late Carl W. and Velma E. (Rudolph) Peace in Henderson Twp., PA. She grew up on a small farm caring for her many beloved pets and riding across the countryside on her dear horse, Chips. Katie accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior when she was 11 years old and spent her life sharing the faith with everyone she met. In 1955 she graduated from Sykesville High School, and two years later married her high school sweetheart, John Anderson. They spent 67 years walking hand in hand setting a wonderful example of unconditional love for their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Katie was a member of the First Baptist Church in DuBois. She was an accomplished musician, playing the piano and organ for church and entertaining her family with polkas on her accordion. She is survived by her husband John and three daughters: Melinda “Mindy” (Andrew) Riss, Carlene (Bashar) Abdo; and Kathy (Frank) DelGiudice; eleven grandchildren: Chelsey (Jonathan) Riss Hill, Chloe (Cody) Riss Smith, Claire (Tim) Riss Eng, Drew (Robert) Riss Dickens, Christian Riss, Fiona Riss, Zayna (Ben) Abdo Johnson, Sofia (Parker) Abdo Brown, William DelGiudice, Margo DelGiudice, and Luke DelGiudice; six great-grandchildren: Rosalie Hill, Albert Hill, Barrett Smith, Beau Smith, Leo Johnson, and Callum Johnson; and one sister: Donna Marshall. In addition to her parents, Katie is preceded in passing by one sister; Betty Gray; and three brothers: Bill, DeVere, and Lewis Peace. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Snyder – d’Argy Funeral Home, 206 E. Main Street, Reynoldsville, PA 15851. Interment will take place at Paradise Cemetery, Henderson Twp., Jefferson Co., PA.
