Shelly Ray Skalicky, 69, of Chapel Hill, NC, passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, while a patient at University of North Carolina Hospital. Shelly was born on February 29, 1956, to the late Mona Irene (Snyder) Skalicky in Wellsboro, PA. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Oregon and worked in childcare. She married Daniel Nathan Long on September 26, 1996, in Plano, TX; Daniel survives her. Shelly had an unwavering Christian faith, and she attended the Antioch Baptist Church in White Cross, NC. Shelly’s life was her own personal ministry anchored in Corinthians 12:19. “HIS GRACE is sufficient for me.” Shelly inspired all who knew her. Her greatest joys in life were children and her puppy, Leana. Shelly will be deeply missed by all that knew her. In addition to her husband, Shelly is survived by two stepsons: Joshua (Geena) Long and Michael Long; three grandchildren: Sawyer, Theo, and Lucy Long; and three siblings: Kim Skalicky, Patty Nojima, and Leroy Rhines. In addition to her mother, Shelly is preceded in passing by one brother: Terry Skalicky. Family and friends will be received on Monday, July 21, 2025, from 11am to 1pm at the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main Street, Brookville, PA 15825. A funeral service will be held immediately following the viewing, beginning at 1pm. Interment will take place at Riggs Cemetery, Warsaw Twp., Jefferson Co., PA.
