Sara Catherine (Emberg) Burkhardt

Sara Catherine (Emberg) Burkhardt, 92, of Punxsutawney, PA, passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, while a patient at Punxsutawney Area Hospital. She was born on June 5, 1930, to the late Oscar and Eliza (Chapman) Emberg in Punxsutawney. She graduated from Punxsutawney High School with the class of 1948. Sara married William Adolf Burkhardt on February 9, 1953, in Punxsutawney; William preceded her in passing in 1998. Sara worked for Pram Co. in Punxsutawney throughout its transition to Punxsy Sportswear, she also worked for Loree Footwear in Big Run, PA, and retired from Joe’s Drive In of Punxsutawney. Sara was a member of the Canoe Ridge Church of God in Rossiter, PA. She had a strong faith in God and loved reading her bible. She was a loving person who cared for all living things, especially dogs. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Sara is survived by one son; Donald Lee Burkhardt; and two sisters in law; Darlene Emberg; and Marie Emberg. In addition to her parents and husband, Sara was preceded in passing by six siblings; Thelma Bianco; Ellen Gaston; Eugene Emberg; Leonard Emberg; Edwin Emberg; and Edna Bish. Family and friends will be received on Saturday, February 25, 2023, from 1pm to 4pm at the Fait – d’Argy Funeral Home, 117 N. Jefferson St., Punxsutawney, PA 15767.
