Richard “Rick” William Murray, OSCS (SW/AW), USN (Ret), 49 of Brookville, PA passed away August 25, 2022. He was the son of Richard “Dick” and Linda Lee (Crissman) Murray, also of Brookville. In addition to his parents, Rick is survived by three children; Richard “Ricky” William Boyd Murray, Daniel Munoz, Kasey Elayne Murray; one sister; Melanie Leanne (T. Christopher) McPhee; and two grandchildren; Oliver and Henry Munoz. Rick was a 1991 graduate of Brookville Area High School. In 1993, he became a true hero to our country by enlisting in the US Navy. While serving his country, for 23 years, he conducted six different deployments as an Operational Specialist. He earned his Enlisting Surface Warfare, Anti – Air Warfare qualifications. Then, as an OI Division Leading Petty Officer he led personnel, earned his Ship Weapons Coordinator qualification, and attended the “Top Gun” Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center; where he was designated a Strike Fighter Tactics Instructor. He was promoted to Chief in 2003, earning his qualification as a Master Training Specialist. During his time in the Navy, Rick earned numerous accolades, awards, and metals for his service and efforts. He retired from his Naval career after rising to the rank of Sr. Chief. In life, Rick was always ready to crack a joke or two. He had a great sense of humor. He loved to read, loved History, and collected guns and knives. He was very caring, generous, and loved his family more than anything. He will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorial contributions to be made in his name to The Vet Center (General Fund); 100 Meadow Lane #8, Dubois, PA 15801. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, August 31, 2022; from 4pm – 7pm, at the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main Street, Brookville, PA 15825. A funeral service will also be held at the funeral home on Thursday, September 1, 2022, beginning at 11am and officiated by Pastor Glenn McQuown.
