Richard Mauersberg, 84, of State College, PA, formerly of Brookville, PA, passed away on Friday, July 26, 2024, while a resident at Wynwood House Person Care Home. He was born on August 23, 1939, to the late William and Hazel (Songer) Mauersberg in Sigel, PA. Richard proudly served in the United States Navy for two years. Richard married Carol Jane Smith on June 18, 1966, in Brookville, PA; Carol preceded him in passing on October 10, 2021. He was a partner of Mauersberg Coal Company and retired in 1978. He was a member of St. Dominic’s Roman Catholic Church in Sigel and was a board member of the Clarion – Limestone Area School District for twelve years. Richard was a simple man who loved hunting, fishing, gardening, and traveling. Richard is survived by three children: Brian Mauersberg of State College, PA; Terri Mauersberg of Greensburg, PA; Joseph Mauersberg (Michelle Mauersberg) of Mechanicsburg, PA; three grandchildren: Joshua Mauersberg of Virginia Beach, Virginia; Jacob Mauersberg of Virginia Beach, Virginia; Katrina Mauersberg of Johnstown, Pennsylvania; and one great grandchild: Killian Monko of Johnstown, Pennsylvania. In addition to his wife and parents, Richard is preceded in passing by his siblings: Jean Otto of San Diego, California; Kenneth Mauersberg of Sigel, PA; Robert Mauersberg of Sigel, PA; Fred Mauersberg of Owego, New York; Arnold Mauersberg of Cortland, Ohio; Gerald Mauersberg of Clarion, PA; Walter Mauersberg of Pittsburg, PA; Mary Bauer of Warren, OH; Louise Hudak of Fombell, PA. Family and friends will be received on Thursday, August 1, 2024, from 3pm to 7pm at the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main Street, Brookville, PA 15825. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, August 2, 2024, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 129 Graham Ave., Brookville, PA 15825, beginning at 10am. Final interment will take place at Lakelawn Memorial Park, Winslow Twp., Jefferson Co., PA.
