Neal Baughman Obituary

Neal Burton Baughman, 90, of Brookville, PA, passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, after a short stay at the McKinley Health Center in Brookville. Neal was born on October 25, 1931, to the late Guy O. and Lula (Johnson) Baughman in Hazen, PA. He graduated from Brookville Area High School with the Class of 1949. After graduation he worked on a drilling rig for a short period of time. He served in the United States Navy from February 28, 1951, to February 21, 1955; for ten months he sailed around the world on the USS Wasp with the VF171 Spider Squadron. Neal married Molly Ann North on December 26, 1955, at the Brookville First United Methodist Church; Molly preceded him in passing on June 6, 2008. After serving in the Navy, he was hired by Emery’s Tin Shop where he did roofing, heating, and sheet metal fabrication. He started buying into the business and eventually owned the business. When things got slow there, he went to sheet metal and welding school at Williamsport Technical Trade School. In 1986 he started teaching sheet metal fabrication at Jefferson County Vocational Trade School, retiring in 1996. Neal was a member of the Brookville First United Methodist Church for 67 years; he served on various boards within the church. He was also a member of the Red Lick Hunting Club and the Pinecrest Country Club. Neal was a talented furniture builder, roofer, and tin worker. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He loved to camp but would never turn down the chance to lay in the sun on a beach. Above all else he loved his children, grandchildren, and great – grandchildren. Neal is survived by three children; Barbara Ann (David) Crooks, William Andrew (Donna) Baughman, Robert “Bud” (Amy) Baughman; two brothers; Richard Baughman, Guy E. (Carol) Baughman; six grandchildren; Matthew (Marissa) Crooks, Mackenzie (Jeremy Lockman) Crooks, Kati (JD) Rice, Leah (Jon) Cassella, Kyle (Shaina Schulz) Baughman, Bryce (Mackenzie Young) Baughman; five great – grandchildren; Bennett Rice, Aubrey Rice, Bowen Rice, Grayson Crooks, and Christian Crooks.
