L. Marie Work, age 94, of Punxsutawney, PA, passed away surrounded by the love of her family from near and far on Tuesday, December 24, 2024.
She was born on October 28, 1930, to the late Lamount and Mildred (Wolfgang) Buterbaugh in Juneau, PA.
Marie is survived by her daughters: Karla (Work) Strawser and her husband, Chuck, and Kristie (Work) Kromer and her husband, Dave; and son-in-law: Ted Zeitler.
Surviving grandchildren include: Kelly (Work) Rowe and her husband, Jim of Warrington, PA, and Alee (Kromer) Smith and her husband, Jake, of Virginia, Drew Strawser of Punxsutawney, Greg Strawser of Punxsutawney, Heath Zeitler and his wife, Lisa of Punxsutawney, Brooke Zeitler and her husband Adam Holmes of Treasure Lake of DuBois, and Wesley Zeitler of Punxsutawney.
Marie is also survived by her great-grandchildren: Carter Rowe, Delaney Rowe, Molly Smith, Garrett Zeitler, Jaelin Decker, Ian Decker, Logan Zeitler, Kamryn Zeitler; and great-great-grandchild: Nova Decker.
In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in passing by her husband: George Work; daughter: Karen Zeitler; and her brothers: Charles Buterbaugh and Harold “Tim” Buterbaugh.
Marie loved making memories with her family, looking through photographs, reminiscing on moments of the past and singing hymns in her beautiful alto voice. She found beauty in the simplest of things and instilled that along with her kind, caring spirit into those who loved her most.

At Marie’s request, there will be no public visitation. A private service will be held at a later date.
