L. "Jane" (Bish) Willison

L. Jane (Bish) Willison, 94, of Brookville, PA, passed away during the early morning hours of Saturday, September 30, 2023, while a resident of SpiritTrust Lutheran Assisted Care in York. She was born on May 11, 1929, to the late William Howard and Annie Grace (Horn) Bish in Fairmount City, PA. She married William V. “Bill” Willison on April 26, 1969, in New Bethlehem, PA; they shared thirty seven years together before Bill preceded her in passing in 2006.

Jane was a 1947 graduate of Reynoldsville High School in Reynoldsville, PA. She was a member of the Mount Tabor Presbyterian Church of Sigel, PA. Bill and Jane owned and operated Willison Chevrolet in New Bethlehem for many years.

The Willison’s were members at the Pinecrest Country Club in Brookville, where they enjoyed playing in leagues and tournaments with their many golfing buddies. Jane loved the Pennsylvania wilderness and specifically loved organizing picnics at all the beautiful local parks, including Clear Creek and Loleta. As a teenager she was an exceptional softball player who brought a talented edge to family reunion softball games. She also enjoyed playing indoor games like cards, board games, and Crokinole. She was a fierce competitor. Above all else, Jane loved her family and will be dearly missed by many.

Jane is survived by four children; Susan Tyger Cathcart; Brian Willison; Doug Tyger; Julie Tyger; seven grandchildren; Lauren (Patrick) Norton; Erin (Matthew) Ward; Drew Tyger & Jamie McEvoy; Ross Tyger; Ian Tyger; William Lucas Ryczek; Shannon (Ryan) Roth; and five great grandchildren; Aspen Rose Roth; Lennon Mae Roth; Harper Shae Roth; Sloan Jane Ward; and Lilian Jane Norton. In addition to her parents and husband, Jane was preceded in passing by two brothers; William Bish; Robert Bish; and two sisters; Betty Shaffer and Ruth Walls.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, October 13, 2023, from 11am to 1pm at the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main Street, Brookville, PA 15825. A funeral service will take place immediately following the visitation, beginning at 1:00pm and officiated by Pastor Boyd Edmondson. Interment will take place at Lakelawn Memorial Park, Winslow Twp., Jefferson Co., PA. In lieu of flowers a Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Mt.
