Kathryn “Libby” E. (Burkett) Emery, 92, of Brookville, PA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 1, 2025, while residing at Christ the King Manor in DuBois, PA.
Born on August 29, 1932, in Punxsutawney, PA, Libby was the daughter of the late Walter S. and Mary “Ruth” (Thompson) Burkett. She was a proud graduate of Punxsutawney High School, Class of 1950.
Libby married the love of her life, Clair L. Emery, and together they built a home filled with love, laughter, and devotion. Clair preceded her in passing on April 13, 2014.
Libby was a member of the Methodist Church in Emerickville, PA. She had worked at Cameron Manufacturing, Brockway Glass, Sylvania, and G.C. Murphy’s, but her heart was always at home. She took pride in caring for her husband, raising their children, and keeping a warm and welcoming household. She had a natural gift for taking care of others, always making sure those around her felt loved and supported.
She enjoyed being outdoors, whether tending to her garden or simply appreciating nature. She loved staying busy and found joy in even the smallest of tasks. In her later years, she had a baby doll she lovingly named Dumpling, which she cared for with the same warmth she showed to her family. She was a kind-hearted woman who spoke highly of others, never one to dwell on negativity or put anyone down. Her family was her world, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
Libby is survived by her children: Ronald L. (Susan) Emery, Dennis R. (Denise Shaffer) Emery, Donna D. (John) Williams, Denise K. (Charles) Bussard, and Beth A. (David) Carlson; fifteen grandchildren; and twenty-two great-grandchildren, with a few more on the way.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in passing by her brothers, Harold W. Burkett and Donald H. Burkett.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Snyder – d’Argy Funeral Home, 206 E. Main Street, Reynoldsville, PA 15851. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2025, also at the funeral home, beginning at 11:00 AM and officiated by her son, Pastor Ronald L. Emery. Interment will take place at the Lutheran Church Cemetery, Emerickville, Jefferson Co., PA. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Emerickville Global Methodist Church, 13345 US-322, Brookville, PA 15825.
