Karen Louise (Fillhart) Snyder

Karen Louise (Fillhart) Snyder, age 74, of Falls Creek, PA, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born on December 24, 1949, in DuBois, PA, she was the cherished daughter of the late Harold B. Fillhart and Mary Louise (Cribbs) Fillhart.

A proud graduate of the DuBois Area High School Class of 1967, Karen built a life rooted in kindness, hard work, and love. She married her soulmate, Laird K. Snyder, on September 20, 1969, in DuBois, PA, and they shared nearly 50 years of marriage before his passing on March 22, 2019. Karen dedicated her career to Rockwell, L&K Enterprises, and National Car Rental, and brought warmth and reliability to every role she held.

A devoted member of the Falls Creek Presbyterian Church, Karen’s faith was a guiding light in her life. She lived with a spirit of generosity and creativity, pouring her love into baking and crocheting intricate baby blankets and afghans for those she held dear. Her family and friends will always remember the joy of her sweet treats and the comfort of her handmade gifts.

Karen found happiness in the simple joys of life: caring for her beloved dogs, camping under the stars, and creating cherished memories with her family. Her granddaughter Emilee was the center of her world, and the arrival of her new granddaughter Acelynn who was a bright light in her life.  

She is survived by her son, Keith L. Snyder, of Falls Creek, and his partner, Kayla Weir; her sisters, Darla J. Hetrick of Reynoldsville, PA, and Cheryl D. Johnston and her husband Larry of DuBois; and her adored granddaughters, Emilee L. Snyder and Acelynn Weir. In addition to her husband and parents, Karen was preceded in death by her in-laws, Paul and Mary Snyder; and brothers-in-law, Bernard P. Snyder, William Snyder, Richard Snyder, and Harry R. Hetrick.

Karen’s legacy of love, faith, and compassion will continue to inspire all who knew her. Memorial contributions may be made in Karen’s name to the Gateway Humane Society, 1211 Airport Road, Falls Creek, PA 15840, or to the Falls Creek Presbyterian Church, 220 Main Street, Falls Creek, PA 15840.
