Jonathan Sweka Obituary

Jonathan Louis Sweka, 72, of Soldier PA, passed away during the early morning of Sunday, November 6, 2022, at the DuBois Nursing Home in DuBois, PA. He was born on March 9, 1950, to the late Bernard Sweka and Charlotte (Brisko) Sweka Yanek, in DuBois PA. He graduated from the DuBois Area High School with the class of 1968 and then from the Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology in 1971. He completed a successful career with Triangle Auto Springs after thirty-seven years of service. On July 3, 1971, Jonathan married the love of his life, Ruth (Lawson) Sweka in DuBois, PA; Ruth survives him.

Jonathan was Catholic by faith, worshipping at the Assumption Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church in Sykesville. He was also an avid outdoorsman carrying memberships with he Hormtown Rifle and Pistol Club and the Ridgway Rifle Club; Jonathan was an overall firearm enthusiast who enjoyed hunting, especially rabbit hunting. He also loved trout fishing, bow hunting, muzzleloader hunting and competing in muzzleloader competitions. He was a fine craftsman building muzzleloaders and furniture. Later in life he found an additional joy in black powder cartridge rifle silhouette shooting. His love for his family and unique hobbies will always be remembered.

In addition to his wife Ruth, Jonathan is survived by his son, John Adam Sweka, and his wife Robin, of Howard PA; and his daughter, Jennifer Ann Sweka – Fye of DuBois, PA. He is also survived by three grandchildren: Katherine Fye of DuBois PA, Gracie Sweka and Jonathan Sweka of Howard, PA. In addition to his parents, Jonathan is preceded in death by his stepfather, Adam Yanek, and one grandson, Michael Sweka.

Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, from 6 – 8pm, at the Snyder – d’Argy Funeral Home, 206 E. Main St., Reynoldsville PA, 15851. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, November 10, 2022, at the Assumption Blessed Virgin Mary, 20 Shaffer Street, Sykesville, PA 15865, beginning at 11:00am.
