John Carmen Ferra Sr., 80, of Reynoldsville, PA, passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at his home. He was born on October 7, 1943, to the late EuGene D. and Josephine E. (Longo) Ferra in Punxsutawney, PA. John attended Ss. Cosmas & Damian School in Punxsutawney, where he later received his GED. He went on to attend a butcher trade school in Toledo, OH, before returning home and working for Riverside as a butcher for over thirty years. John married the love of his life, Betty Lou Snyder on February 8, 1964, in Punxsutawney; Betty preceded John in passing on November 12, 2009. He was a member of the American Legion and Eagles Club, both in Reynoldsville. He was also a member of the Sandy Club in DuBois. John loved all things fast and was known for his affinity for cars and racing. He was also a fan of slower sports, including football. John loved his hometown, but really loved being comfortable, so he was known as a “Snowbird”, driving to Florida for warmer weather whenever winter really started to set in. John was a sociable person who spent time with his friends as often as he could, he will be dearly missed by many. John is survived by two sons; John “Choo” (Irene) Ferra Jr.; Chuck (Dory) Ferra; step-mother; Margorie Ferra; nine grandchildren; Betsy (Tom) Bogle; Dana (Sean) Gaul; Matthew Ferra; Mitchell Ferra; Allie Ferra; Kaylie (Rob) Muirhead; Jerett Peles; Kayla (John) Georgino; Dylan Good; two great grandchildren; Ryder Bogle; Parker Bogle; and six siblings; Claire (Albert) Canton; EuGene “Gino” (Milinda) Ferra; Kevin Ferra; Colin Ferra; Karen Bly; and Kirwin Ferra. In addition to his parents and wife, John was preceded in passing by one daughter; Marcy Trimble. Family and friends will be received on Thursday, October 12, 2023, from 4pm to 8pm at the Snyder – d’Argy Funeral Home, 206 E. Main Street, Reynoldsville, PA 15851. A funeral service will take place on Friday, October 13, 2023, also at the funeral home, beginning at 11am and officiated by Pastor Sam Bundy.
