John Eugene Bottenhorn

John Eugene Bottenhorn, of Punxsutawney, passed away at the age of 61 on Thursday, February 27, 2025. Born on July 30, 1963, in Punxsutawney, he was the son of the late James Franklin Carl and Donna Marie (Shank) Bottenhorn; his mother survives him.

John was a proud graduate of Punxsutawney High School, Class of 1982. A well-known member of the community, he was affiliated with the Punxsutawney Eagles Post #1231 and served as a caretaker at the Flashover Club. John had a deep passion for the history of Punxsutawney and took great pride in sharing his knowledge with others. He was often seen walking around town, striking up conversations with everyone he met. His warmth and friendliness made him a cherished figure in the community, and he considered everyone a friend.

John is survived by his siblings, James (Nancy) Bottenhorn, Yvonne (Charles) Schenz, Jeff (Lisa) Bottenhorn, and Eric (Cheryl) Bottenhorn; three nieces and three nephews, seven great-nieces, and five great-nephews; his wife, Cindy Lee (Kerr) Bottenhorn; and his stepchildren, CJ Elizabeth Adams, Jimmy Adams III, and George Adams.

Above all, John loved his family—especially his mother. His kindness, generosity, and unwavering friendship will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
