Janet Simpson Obituary

Janet Mae (Caylor) Simpson, 99, of Sigel, PA, passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, August 15, 2024, while at home with family.

She was born on October 4, 1924, to the late Albert and Ethel (Stewart) Caylor. Janet married the love of her life, Duane Simpson on March 7, 1956, in Duquesnse, PA, at Grace Church. She attended Ringgold School before going to Punxsutawney High School. Upon graduation, she went to work for U. S. Steel Irwin Work’s accounting division where she was a secretary. She also worked in McKeesport Schools where she was an executive secretary and assistant to the superintendent of the district.

First and foremost, Janet was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, staying at home to lovingly raise them. She was a member of the Sigel United Methodist Church. She was a devoted follower of her savior Jesus and served her church faithfully. Her joy showed in everything she did. Her beautiful smile radiated her love to all and could light up a room. She enjoyed flowers and summer gardening. Janet was elegant and filled with grace and beauty. She will be remembered for her love and smile by all that knew her.

Janet is survived by her husband Duane; her sons: Mark Simpson (wife Mary) and Scott Simpson (wife Joyce); six grandchildren: Matthew Simpson (wife Deanna), Stephanie Altic (Simpson - husband Dustin), Adam Simpson, Laura Sackett (Simpson - husband Kaleb), Ryan Simpson, and Nathan Simpson (wife Bailey); and six great grandchildren: Abigail, Annabelle, and baby boy, Creston, Micah, and Wyatt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in passing by eight siblings: Earnest Caylor; Rush Caylor; Leroy Caylor; John Caylor; Dorothy Johnson; Edith Elkin; Phyllis Heil; and Irene Martz.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Brookville, PA 15825, from 3pm – 7pm. A funeral service will take place on Friday August 30, 2024, also at the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, beginning at 11:00am and officiated by Pastor Ray Baker. Interment will take place at Ringgold Cemetery, Ringgold, Jefferson Co., PA.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful care and compassion she received from Penn Highlands Hospice care team, with special thanks to nurses Jodie and Angie, Pastor Ray Baker, the Sigel Fire Department, and many loving neighbors and friends.
