Janet Cecile (Sebring) Evans, 82, of Brookville, PA, passed away on Friday, December 25, 2020, in the comfort of her home. She was born on April 12, 1938, to the late Charles Earl and Venice (Shoffner) Sebring in Knox Dale, PA. She graduated from Brookville High School. She married William Ray Evans on November 9, 1963, in Knox Dale; William preceded her in passing on July 11, 2015. She did clerical work for the FBI right out of high school, she went on to work in Pittsburgh for a time, before returning to Brookville and starting a position at S&T Bank. She later owned and operated Brookville Hardware Company on Main Street Brookville with her husband. Janet also worked for George Miller and Dick Beck in the magistrate’s office in Brookville. She would later retire from the office towards the end of Dick Beck’s term. Janet was a member of the Brookville Presbyterian Church but grew up attending church in Knox Dale. She was also a founding member of her card club, which she participated in for over fifty years. Janet is survived by three children; Robin Evans; Barb Atkinson; Ken (Terri) Evans; six grandchildren; Chase; Desie; Aubree; Nicolas; Shayna; Sadie; one great grandchild; Eleanor; and three siblings; Joan Allshouse; Edwin “Duane” Sebring; and James Sebring. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in passing by four siblings; Harry “Hub” Sebring; Charles “Keith” Sebring; Richard “Geg” Sebring; and Audrey Sebring. A funeral service will be broadcast on Tuesday, December 29, 2020, beginning at 12pm and officiated by Pastor Christopher McCloskey. Interment will take place at Brookville Cemetery, Brookville, Jefferson Co., PA. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to www.breastcancer.org.
