Hazel "Betty" Elizabeth (Smith) Miles

Hazel “Betty” Elizabeth (Smith) Miles, 90, of Punxsutawney, PA, passed away on November 18, 2022, while a resident of Penn Highlands Jefferson Manor in Brookville, PA. Betty was born on December 18, 1931, to the late Joseph and Mildred (Cox) Smith in Milltown, PA. She graduated from Seneca Hills High School with the Class of 1949. Betty married Rev. Donald G. Miles on June 24, 1950, in North Bessemer, PA; Donald preceded her in passing on February 27, 2016. Betty worked for Paul Beatty Jewelers in Punxsutawney for many years but was mainly known for being the Pastors wife in various Alliance Churches. Betty and Donald pastored at Butler/Crosswinds, Coalport, Oil City, North East, Indiana, Cambridge Springs, Shell Point Village Church, and Tionesta. In her free time, Betty loved to hunt and fish with her husband. She was also an amazing artist and painted great pictures. Betty is survived by three children, Larry (Diane) Miles of Madison, OH; Celia (Kevin) Watts of Loveland, OH; and Donna Ford of Brookville, PA; three siblings; Barb Beatty, Darrell Smith, and Karen Verdill. Betty is also survived by five grandchildren and five great – grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, Betty is preceded in passing by four siblings; Jack Smith, Paul Smith, Gary Smith, and Wanda Radford; and one grandson; Erik Ford. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Her arrangements have been entrusted to the Fait – d’Argy Funeral Home, 117 N. Jefferson St., Punxsutawney, PA 15767. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Christian & Missionary Alliance, 1307 S. Main St. Ext., Punxsutawney, PA 15767.
