Harry Smith Chitester

Harry Smith Chitester, 92, of Brookville, PA, passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, while a resident at the McKinley Health Center in Brookville. Harry was born on March 6, 1930, to the late Lawson and Mildred (Bower) Chitester in Knox Twp., PA. He served in the United States Navy on a troop carrier during the Korean War. Harry married Mary (Reitz) Muth on December 28, 1965, in Brookville; Mary survives him. He worked for United Electric Cooperative Inc. for forty years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trapping. He loved to be outside working in his three gardens. He had a green thumb and had the most beautiful flowers. He enjoyed leather work and taxidermy work. Harry loved dogs; he had many black labs throughout his life that meant so much to him. In addition to his wife, Harry is survived by five children; Sheree (Paul) Brody, Kelly Jo Mallady, Heidi English, Deborah Muth Alford, and David William Muth; seven grandchildren; and thirteen great – grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Harry is preceded in passing by three brothers; Clifford Chitester, Robert Chitester, and Devere Chitester. Family and friends will be received on Friday, April 8, 2022, from 5pm – 8pm at the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Brookville, PA 15825. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2022, also at the funeral home, beginning at 2pm and officiated by Mark King and Steven Jayne.
