Geraldine "Gerri" Ann (Pounds) Barrett

Geraldine “Gerri” Ann (Pounds) Barrett, 72, of Punxsutawney, PA, passed away on Friday, July 28, 2023, while a patient at UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. Gerri was born on March 22, 1951, to the late William E. Pounds and Barbara Cochran in Punxsutawney. She was raised by her grandparents, the late Ray and Helen Pounds. She attended Punxsutawney Area School District. Gerri married Ronald L. Barrett on June 20, 1969, in Punxsutawney. After 54 years of marriage, Ronald survives her. Gerri retired from the United States Postal Service. Gerri will be missed by her beloved wiener dogs, cat, chickens, and everyone who knew her. In addition to her husband, Gerri is survived by three children; Ronald (Tena) Barrett of Waverly, NY; Charles Barrett of Punxsutawney, PA; Diana (Ray Long) Smith of Punxsutawney, PA; brother; Allen (Shirley) Brothers of Punxsutawney; two sisters; Patricia Lamb of Paola, KS and Barbara Doherty of Paola, KS stepmother; Magdeline Pounds of Perryopolis, PA; stepbrother; Jeffery (Kathy) Kuss of New York; two brothers-in-law; Robert C. (Sallye) Barrett; Daryl Barrett; and two sisters-in-law; Frances (Peter) Altimore; and Linda Riccardo. Gerri is also survived by four grandchildren; RaeAnne (Dustin) Bennett; Colton (Angel) Barrett; David Barrett; Jenna Barrett; and one great-granddaughter; Elliana Faye Bennett and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents and grandparents, Gerri is preceded in passing by sister-in-law; Janet (Dick) Pollock; two brothers-in-law; Chuck Lamb; Larry Doherty; and parents-in-law; Robert D. and Luella Barrett. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, from 4pm to 8pm, at the Fait – d’Argy Funeral Home, 117 N. Jefferson Street, Punxsutawney, PA 15767. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 3, 2023, also at the funeral home, beginning at 11am. Interment will take place at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Covode, Indiana Co., PA.
