Geneva "Tootie" G. Thrush

Geneva “Tootie” Gertrude Thrush, 96, of Brookville, PA, passed away during the evening hours of Monday, November 8, 2021, while a resident at Penn Highlands Jefferson Manor. She was born on June 15, 1925, to the late Floyd and Hilda (Mottern) Lucas in Sigel, PA. She graduated from Sigel High School. Tootie married Ray Thrush on August 21, 1948, in Sigel, PA; Ray preceded her in passing on December 7, 1989. Tootie was a longtime member of the Brookville First United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was also kitchen coordinator at the church for forty-five years. Tootie was a fifty-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She also volunteered with the Brownie Girl Scouts and the Rainbow Girls program. She enjoyed cooking and painting in her free time. Tootie is survived by four children; Dale (Connie) Thrush of Brookville, PA; Jacquie Cussins of Marienville, PA; Janeen (Bob) Lewis of Brookville, PA; and Cathy Shoffstall of Brookville, PA; ten grandsons; Tim, Greg, Jeff, Josh, Brian, Travis, Nathan, Jay, Jeremy, and Danny; twelve great-grandsons; Blaine, Christopher, Cael, Noah, Luke, Ryan, Ian, Logan, Blake, Joey, Nickson, and Jessie; and four great-granddaughters; Ady, Emma, Morgan, and Caroline. In addition to her parents and husband, Tootie was preceded in passing by her brother; Donald “Babe” Lucas; four brothers-in-law; Glenn Thrush, Olin Thrush, Everett Thrush, and Harold Thrush; four sisters-in-law; Beverly Lucas, Catherine Thrush, Mary Thrush, and Margie Neel; two sons-in-law; Dan Shoffstall and Jerry Cussins. Services will be held privately to the family and have been entrusted to the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main Street, Brookville, PA 15825. Final burial will take place at the Knoxdale Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Knoxdale, Jefferson Co., PA. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 205 Jefferson St, Brookville, PA 15825.
