Gary Lee Lasher

Gary Lee Lasher, 72, of Brookville, PA, passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, while a patient at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital in DuBois, PA. Gary was born on February 14, 1951, to the late Richard and Wilta (Glenn) Lasher in Brookville. He graduated from Clarion – Limestone Area High School. He continued his education at Clarion University where he received his bachelor’s in education. Gary worked as an insurance adjuster for over 30 years for Erie Insurance, where he mainly focused on auto and home insurance. Gary married Sandra Smeltzer on June 22, 1996, at the First United Methodist Church in Brookville; Sandra survives him. He was a member of the Pisgah Presbyterian Church in Corsica and Division 11 - Allegheny Plateau MCR NMRA. He was also a past volunteer for the Summerville Fire Company for many years. Gary enjoyed model trains for over 60 years. He also enjoyed train rides and camping with family. He loved traveling with his wife, Sandra, and fishing with his grandsons. In addition to his wife, Gary is survived by two sons; Matthew (Allison) Lasher; Christopher (Holly Yeager) Lasher; two stepsons; William (Jennifer) Painter; Eric (Nicole) Painter; and one sister; Barbara (Richard “Dick”) Pierce. Gary is also survived by seven grandchildren; Megan Painter; Savannah Painter; Kyle Lasher; Justin Lasher; Nora May Lasher; Chase Painter; Kinsley Painter; and numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received on Friday, April 28, 2023, at the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main Street, Brookville, PA 15825, from 3pm to 7pm. A second viewing will take place on Saturday, April 29, 2023, also at the funeral home, from 11am – 1pm. A funeral service will take place immediately following the second viewing, beginning at 1pm, and officiated by Reverend Paul Smeltzer. Interment will take place at Pisgah Cemetery, Corsica, Jefferson Co., PA. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Alleghany Plateau Division MCR NMRA, 11 Short Street, Brookville, PA 15825.
