Gale Arden “Joe” Himes, age 80 of Reynoldsville, PA went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 29th, 2025, peacefully surrounded by family. Born on November 6, 1944, in Brockport, PA, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Ada (Silvis) Himes, Sr. On April 1, 1978, he married Wanda Snyder, who survives, and together they built their loving and supportive home in Reynoldsville. A hard worker, Joe worked 44 Years at Brockway Glass. Joe loved being with his children and grandchildren, which was always his number one priority. Joe would give you anything he had if he knew you needed it. Joe could always be found lending a helping hand to his friends, neighbors, and strangers whether plowing snow, mowing grass, or working in his garage with the gift of his ability to find a fix to repair anything broken. Joe enjoyed being outdoors, from the early days of working his farm, then his large garden in the yard, racing cars, riding motorcycles, to camping and fishing. He had a love for music, singing old songs around a campfire, and playing the guitar with family. Joe is survived by his brother Calvin “Cal” (Tracy) Himes and by his children: son Cory (Mandy) Himes of Erie, and daughters Maria (Josh) Johnston of DuBois, Jennifer and Jessica Himes of Reynoldsville, and four grandchildren Alyssa and Kalyn Johnston and Jaxson and Gabriella Ferrara. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Wayne Himes, Benjamin Himes, Jr., Ozzie and Wesley Himes, Sylvester Himes and three sisters Mary Reitz, Edna Himes, and Nan Jamison. Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, from 3pm to 5pm at the Snyder – d'Argy Funeral Home, 206 E. Main Street, Reynoldsville, PA 15851. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 607 E. Main Street, Reynoldsville, PA 15851, beginning at 10am. Interment will take place at Syphrit Cemetery, Reynoldsville, Jefferson Co., PA. Online condolences and other information may be found by visiting www.dargyfh.com
