Etta Lois (Black) Kelso, 101, of Brookville, PA, passed away on Friday, August 1, 2025, while at her home surrounded by her loving family. Lois was born on July 20, 1924, to the late Irvin Earl and Lottie Adelia (Williams) Black in Mahoning, PA. She graduated from high school in Kittanning with the Class of 1942. Lois enjoyed traveling and history. She lived and saw so many changes in 101 years of life, including: the depression, living with no electricity, to working in New Kensington for Alcoa Aluminum Plant during WWII where she inspected the aluminum used to manufacture American war airplanes. She especially loved going to the city of Pittsburgh to shows while living in New Kensington. After the men returned home from war, she came to Brookville where she began working for Sylvania. Lois met the love of her life, Joseph Cook Kelso. They were married on May 6, 1950, in Templeton, PA; Joseph preceded her in passing on September 7, 2017. She spent the rest of her life as a wife and mother always taking care of her family. She was a member of the Brookville Presbyterian Church. Lois is survived by one daughter: Lisa (John) Pozza; two grandchildren: Corey (Lisa) Kelso and Melissa Kelso; and one great grandson: Airen (Sydney) Kelso. In addition to her parents and husband, Lois is preceded in passing by one son: Alfred N. Kelso. Lois’s family would like to thank AseraCare Hospice for their attentive care and devotion during this difficult time. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at the Brookville Presbyterian Church, 100 White Street, Brookville, PA 15825, beginning at 11am. Final interment will take place at Jefferson Cemetery, Clover Twp., Jefferson Co., PA. Arrangements have been entrusted to the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main Street, Brookville, PA 15825. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Brookville Presbyterian Church, or to AseraCare Hospice, 12664 US-19, Unit 1, Waterford, PA 16441.
