Ernest "Gomer" Lee Wolfe

Ernest Lee “Gomer” Wolfe, 73, of Brookville PA, passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at the Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College, PA. Gomer was born on November 4, 1948, to the late Wilbert Byron and Twila Rebecca (Osborne) Wolfe. On August 6, 1993, he married Virginia Louise Shaffer in DuBois PA; she preceded him in passing on July 15, 2016. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, #983 in Brookville PA, and he was a lifetime member of the Brookville Volunteer Fire Company.  Gomer was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and he enjoyed NASCAR. He was very social and liked socializing at the local clubs with his friends. More than anything else, he was very proud of, and loved spending time with his daughter and his grandchildren. Gomer is survived by one daughter; Shelly A. (Greg) Shine of St. Mary’s, PA; two sisters; Montrose Wonderling of Brookville, PA; Judy Phillips of Reynoldsville, PA; and three grandchildren; Amber Schauer, Megan Shine, and Caleb Shine. In addition to his wife and parents, Gomer is preceded in death by four brothers; Clint Wolfe, Joseph “Art” Wolfe, Louis “Jack” Wolfe, Donald “Butch” Wolfe; and four sisters; Gertrude Wolfe, Donna Stahlman, Lois “Sis” Shaffer, and Alice “Faye” Forsythe. Family and friends will be received on Saturday, August 27, 2022, from 10am – 12pm, at the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main Street, Brookville PA, 15825. A funeral service will immediately follow the viewing at the funeral home, beginning at 12:00pm and officiated by Randall J. Hall. Final interment will take place at the Knoxdale Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Knox Twp., Jefferson County, PA. Memorial contributions may be made in Gomer’s name to the Brookville Volunteer Fire Company, 240 Madison Ave., Brookville PA, 15825.
