Eleanor Jean Smith

Eleanor Jean (Shields) Smith, 84, of Brookville, PA, passed away on Thursday, December 23, 2021, while a resident at Penn Highlands Jefferson Manor. Eleanor was born on September 1, 1937, to the late Daniel Richard and Ethel Marjorie (Swineford) Shields in Brookville, PA. She graduated from Brookville Area High School with the Class of 1955. On April 30, 1955, Eleanor married Wilson Ray Smith; he preceded her in death on April 14, 2005. Eleanor loved taking care of her five children and being a stay-at-home mom. She also enjoyed riding on the motorcycle with her husband and traveling with her family. She was a member of the Stanton United Methodist Church. Eleanor is survived by five children; Margie Cook, Vickie (Donald) Iman, Rick Smith, Ron (Lynn) Smith, Randie Smith; one brother; Ed Shields; thirteen grandchildren; Kristen, Courtney, Kim, Sarah, Justin, Heather, Danny, Derrick, Ashley, Allison, Jocelyn, Robert, Adam; and eighteen great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Eleanor is preceded in death by an infant brother; brother; Bob Shields; son-in-law Ron Cook; and granddaughter Amber. Family and friends will be received on Thursday, December 30, 2021, from 10am – 12pm, at the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main Street, Brookville, PA 15825. A funeral service will be held immediately following the viewing beginning at 12pm and officiated by Pastor Randy Hall. Interment will take place at St. John’s (Windy Hill) Cemetery, Rose Twp., Jefferson Co., PA.
