Elaine Marie (Pluchinsky) Koromaus, 81, of Punxsutawney, PA, passed away during the afternoon hours of Wednesday, March 29, 2023, while a patient at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital, surrounded by her two sons and families. She was born on July 21, 1941, to the late John “Cooney” and Mary (Meterko) Pluchinsky in Punxsutawney. She graduated from Punxsutawney High School. Elaine married the love of her life, John Michael Koromaus on May 7, 1966, in Punxsutawney; they are now reunited after a short while, from when John passed away on February 1, 2023. She was a longtime member of the Saints Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church in Punxsutawney, as well as a member of the Lady’s Auxiliary within the church. She was also President of the PnP Angels as well as secretary and treasurer for GCU Lodge #62. She was also a member of the Punxsutawney Eagles and The Walston Club. Elaine was always willing to help anyone in need. With her sister, the two provided catering to almost every event in the Punxsutawney area for a long time. She touched the hearts of many with her generosity and food alike. She was an extremely welcoming person, with a beloved personality and the ability to warm the heart of anyone she encountered. Above all else, she was extremely proud of her four grandchildren. She never tired of her main calling, as a loving mother, wife, grandmother, and friend. Elaine will be dearly missed by her family and community. Elaine is survived by her two sons; David (Sharon) Koromaus; Marc (Richelle “Shelly”) Koromaus; four grandchildren; Sydney; Logan; Max; Lukas; and two siblings; John R. (Maryann) Pluchinsky; and Dolores (Mario) Cardamone. Family and friends will be received on Sunday, April 2, 2023, from 1pm to 6pm at the Fait – d’Argy Funeral Home, 117 N. Jefferson St., Punxsutawney, PA 15767. A Catholic Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, April 3, 2023, at the Saints Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, 714 Sutton St, Punxsutawney, PA 15767, beginning at 11:00 am and officiated by Father Vasyl Kadar. Interment will take place at Saints Peter and Paul Byzantine Cemetery, De Lancey, Jefferson Co., PA.
