Doris R. Bickle, 90, of Richardsville Road, Brookville, PA, passed away on Friday, May 30, 2025, while a resident of Brookside Senior Living with her loving family by her side. She was born on April 20, 1935, to the late J.H. Blaine and Nellie (Gray) Rumberger, in Warriors Mark, PA. She married Robert C. Bickle on February 18, 1956; Robert preceded her in death in 1994.
After graduation from Altoona School of Commerce, she was employed as a receptionist and dental assistant in Altoona.
Doris was a stay-at-home mom until her three sons, Kevin, Robert, and Ronald, were in school. Upon moving to Brookville, she went back to dental assisting, first with Dr. Conrad Snyder DDS until his death. For two years, she was a teachers aid at Northside School in Brookville until Dr. W.D. Weaver DMD returned from military duty then she returned to dental assisting until retirement in 1996. She continued to assist as needed. Doris enjoyed volunteering, mostly at Laurelbrooke Landing in Brookville.
She was a member of the Richardsville United Methodist Church where she helped with Sunday School for many years. She also served in a number of church positions. She also held memberships with the Halfmoon Grange #290 in Port Matilda and Brookville OES #320.
Doris is survived by three sons: Kevin (Cory) Bickle, Robert (Janet) Bickle, and Ronald (Kim) Bickle; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters: Teddie Wineland and Martha Colbert; and one close nephew: Lee (Judy) Pressler. In addition to her parents and husband, Doris was preceded in passing by six siblings: Marjorie, Jane, Josephine, Jesse, Clarence, and Donna.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, June 2, 2025, from 6pm to 8pm, at the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main Street, Brookville, PA 15825. A second viewing will take place, also at the funeral home, on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, from 10am and 1pm. A funeral service will immediately take place following the second viewing, also at the funeral home, beginning at 1pm, and officiated by Pastor Joni Williams. Interment will take place at Lakelawn Memorial Park, Winslow Twp., Jefferson Co., PA. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Richardsville United Methodist Church in care of Kathleen Shaffer, 1888 Hazen Richardsville Road, Brookville, PA 15825.
