Donna Jean Rishel

Donna Jean Rishel, age 85, of Route 1830 Brookville, Pa, passed away to her heavenly home on July 26, 2024, at Penn Highlands DuBois. Donna was born February 23, 1939, in Punxsutawney, Pa, the daughter of the late Glen A. McAninch and Edith M (Hipchen) McAninch. She married the love of her life, H. Duane Rishel on April 29, 1961. He preceded her in death on January 9, 2021.

She was a member of Center Hill Community Church in Knox Dale. She also was a member of the Gideon’s Ladies Auxiliary. She worked as an LPN at Blose McGregor Nursing Home in Punxsutawney until she got married. She also worked in a hospital at Fort Campbell, Ky, where her husband was stationed and was a caregiver for many years in the community. She and her husband owned Rishel’s Poultry Farm for many years.

She is survived by two sons, Jeffrey (Mardelle) Rishel of Cooperstown, Pa:  and Steven (Genevieve) Rishel of Kersey, Pa. She is also survived by three daughters, Lisa (Robert) Insley of Ionia, Mi, Brenda (Pat) Keller of Brookville, Pa, and Stacy (Dan) Sell of DuBois, Pa. She is survived by 16 grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren as well. She was excited for the birth of an additional great grandchild coming at the beginning of Sept. Donna is also survived by one sister, Evelyn Dinger.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by 6 brothers, Glen McAninch, John McAninch, Clifford McAninch, Robert McAninch, Ronald McAninch, and Paul McAninch, along with four sisters, Margaret Knarr, Maxine Myrtle, Eleanor Notto, and an infant sister. She is also preceded in death by 3 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, August 1, 2024, from 4-8 PM at the Center Hill Community Church, 6201 Knoxdale Rd, Brookville, Pa. 15825. A second viewing will be held on Friday, August 2, 2024, also at the church from 10am to 11am. A funeral service will take place immediately following the second viewing, beginning at 11:00 AM and officiated by Pastor Guy Felmlee. Interment will take place at Beechwoods Cemetery.
