Reynoldsville, PA: The world lost one of its best humans with the passing of Donna Jarrett Price on Thursday, October 31, 2024. Donna was called to the Lord unexpectedly in her sleep at age 71. She was born April 7, 1953, in Newton, NC, to James F. Jarrett and Emma Jean (Little) Jarrett. Her parents preceded her in death. She married Jack L. Price on January 27, 1973, at Sardis Lutheran Church in Hickory, NC. Jack also preceded her in death after 46 years of marriage. She graduated from Bunker Hill High School in Claremont, NC, with the Class of 1971. She also graduated from King's College in Charlotte, NC, with a diploma in fashion merchandising.
After moving to Reynoldsville from Claremont, NC, Donna worked as a Hostess for the Welcome Wagon. She later worked for Jefferson Manor as the Activities Director. Her career culminated with Jefferson County Area Agency on Aging where she served as the Center Director of The Foundry, retiring in 2016.
Donna was very active within the Reynoldsville community. Through participation in the Reynoldsville Community Association, Donna and her husband, Jack, started the Red, White, and Blueberry Festival that takes place over the second weekend of July every year. Donna was a member of the First Methodist Church in Reynoldsville; she was very active within the church over the span of forty-six years. She held multiple positions, such as, Missions Committee, Church Council, TLC Meal Delivery, Sunday school teacher, and a certified lay speaker. Donna was part of the oldest organization in Jefferson County, the Utopia Club where she was known as the “designated religious person.” She previously served as a registered leader for both the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, and was involved with the Reynoldsville Soccer Association, and the General Federation of Women’s Club. Donna and Jack also organized and supported the Parkinson’s Support Group at Penn Highlands.
Donna was a collector of skills and was very creative. She excelled at leatherworking, cake decorating, stained glass, sewing, and basketry. She mastered any craft she attempted and then more. She also had a green thumb and loved to be in the garden and bringing it into the house. Her most recent hobby was carpentry where she was renovating a room with her daughter Sheri. She enjoyed a good book and was an avid reader. Donna was also an amazing cook and baker. She always started from scratch, and nothing ever tasted the same. Above all else, Donna was very caring and was a caregiver to everybody. She loved being a grandma most of all.
Donna is survived by her three adult children, Matthew Price and wife Julie (Catalano) Price of Huntingdon, PA; Anna Price of Claremont, NC; and Sheri Price of Reynoldsville, PA; and one grandchild, Connor Price of Huntingdon, PA. She is also survived by 4 siblings, Wayne A. Jarrett and wife Elaine (Brooks) Jarrett; O.J. Jarrett, all of Hickory, NC; Lennie Jarrett of Chilhowie, VA; and Susan (Jarrett) Thomas and husband Ronnie Thomas of Southington, CT; brother-in-law Gary Price and wife Betsie (Knudsen) Price of Altoona, PA; four aunts and an uncle, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
