Delbert E. Darr, 86, of Reynoldsville, PA, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, adventure, and an unmatched sense of humor. Born on July 11, 1938, in Brookville, PA, he was the son of Floyd D. Darr and Viola Mae DeAngelo.
Delbert graduated from Reynoldsville High School and soon after embarked on a life of service and adventure. He proudly joined the United States Air Force, where he served as a jet mechanic for four years. After completing his military service, Delbert pursued a career in truck driving, which spanned an impressive 39 years. He drove for Rockwell, UPS, and Preston Trucking, retiring from the latter with a lifetime of stories and memories on the road.
On April 20, 1958, Delbert married the love of his life, Nina Lee Bankhead, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Together, they built a life filled with love and devotion until her passing on December 26, 2009.
Delbert was a man of many passions. He adored spending time with his grandkids, teaching them the joys of fishing and hunting. He had a knack for wheeling and dealing in firearms, was an avid coin collector, and a treasure hunter who enjoyed metal detecting and prospecting. Over the years, he discovered countless unique and fascinating items. Delbert was also a skilled ham radio operator, a proud supporter of Donald Trump, and someone who held strong opinions on many subjects, often delivered with his signature humor and charm.
Above all, Delbert was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be remembered for his unwavering love and strength.
He is survived by his two daughters and their husbands, Debi L. Appleton (David Schroeder) of Reynoldsville, PA, and Sandy L. (Thomas) Bochert of Rockton, PA. He leaves behind two cherished grandchildren, Michael Darr and Darren Bochert, and one great-grandchild, Renae Darr.
In addition to his beloved wife and parents, Delbert was preceded in death by two grandsons, Jeremy Appleton and Jesse Appleton.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the d’Argy Family Funeral Homes, 206 E. Main Street, Reynoldsville, PA, 15851. In accordance with his wishes, services were held privately, and his final resting place is at Lakelawn Memorial Park in Winslow Township, Jefferson County, PA.
