David Harbison Obituary

David R. Harbison, 78, of Falls Creek, PA, formerly of Natrona Heights, PA, passed away on Wednesday, March 3, 2021. Dave was born August 30, 1942, to the late Charles and Alice (Burbank) Harbison, he was a 1960 graduate of Har-Brack High School, Natrona Heights, PA. Dave continued his education, earning a Bachelor’s Degree at Clarion State College in 1964 and earned a Master of Secondary Education at Duquesne University. For 33 years, he was a High School Teacher. For a short time, he taught in the Sayre Area and relocated back to Pittsburgh, teaching at Mt. Lebanon High School and Churchill High School, which later was renamed Woodland Hills High School. Dave was a life member of The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks and the American Taekwondo Association as a black belt. Dave is survived by wife, Josette C. (Burkhouse) Harbison of Falls Creek, PA; daughter, Diana L. Mangini of Buford, Georgia; and grandsons, Roman (Brook) Mangini and Ian Mangini, also of Georgia; stepsons Stacy (Kelly) Park; Andrew (Erin) Park; grandchildren, Keenan and Liadan Conner-Park. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Charlotte Metzler; a granddaughter, Rachel Mangini, and a grandson, Tiernan Conner-Park. Dave loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed hunting deer and turkey; landscaping; and gardening. He loved reading History; his favorite being war history. Dave also loved many other things, including his wife’s cooking and baking; his dogs, Rigby and Champy; trips to Atlantic City; and visiting his family in Georgia throughout the years, watching his grandsons play hockey and football. He also enjoyed Steelers and Notre Dame football. He had a strong faith in Christ and attended different churches throughout the years, where he enjoyed fellowship with the members. A private service will be held at the family’s convenience with Pastor Robert Way officiating and Dick Hertlein co-officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Snyder-d’Argy Funeral Home, 206 E. Main Street, Reynoldsville, PA 15851. Interment will take place at Smith Cemetery, Jefferson County, Reynoldsville, PA.
