Chester Nolph Obituary

Chester Leroy Nolph, 80, of Brookville, PA, passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2022, while a patient at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. He was born on December 26, 1941, to the late Burton Rutherford and Elva Nettie (Brosius) Nolph in Mayport, PA. Chester graduated from Brookville High School with the class of 1959. He was a hard-working man who held positions with multiple places throughout his career, including BFG Electroplating, Glen-Gery Brick, R.E.M. Coal Company, and Brookville Glove. Chester married Kathryn Naomi Troup on July 3, 1965, in Brookville; Kathryn survives him. He proudly served his country with the US Navy as a boiler repairman and earned a Good Conduct Medal during his service. He was a member of the Antique Auto Club of America, Amateur Radio Club, and was a longtime attendee of the First Assembly of God in Brookville, throughout its transition to the Living Hope Church. Chester loved cars and had a special place in his heart for his 1972 Ford Gran Torino, which he loved showing off at car shows. He also enjoyed operating other things, like motorcycles, snowmobiles, and four wheelers. Chester also enjoyed watching racing, especially NASCAR. He enjoyed building and flying model airplanes, as well as talking on his HAM radio. Chester loved to joke around and “agitate”, and often wouldn’t stop until he brought a smile to all those around him. In addition to his wife, Chester is survived by two daughters; Brenda K. Draisma of Brookville; Melinda M. (Steve) Alderton of Brookville; and two grandchildren; Lucas P. Alderton; and Landon R. Alderton. In addition to his parents, Chester was preceded in passing by one brother: Ronnie E. Nolph. Family and friends will be received on Thursday, September 29, 2022, from 2pm to 8pm at the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main Street, Brookville, PA 15825. A second visitation will take place on Friday, September 30, 2022, also at the funeral home from 10am to 11am. A funeral service will take place immediately following the second visitation, beginning at 11:00am and officiated by Pastor John Thomas. Military Honors will be rendered by the Brookville Area Honor Guard. Interment will take place at the Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery, Ohl, Jefferson Co., PA.
