Charles C. Knapp, 82, of Brookville, PA, passed away on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, while a resident of McKinley Health Center. He was born on August 25, 1940, to the late Harold Arthur and Olive Genevieve (Corbett) Knapp in Brookville. Charles attended Brookville Area High School and went on to work for Humphrey Charcoal. He also worked at Geer Tree Service, Aspen Tree Service, and retired from Brookville Wood Products. Charles loved scrapping in his truck with the liftgate, which he continued this hobby until he was no longer able to. Charles married Virginia Ruth Sprankle on May 26, 1973, in Sigel, PA; Charles and Virginia shared forty two wonderful years together before Virginia’s passing on December 21, 2015. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles for over fifty years and held many positions within the Order. He was also a member of the Brookville Firemen’s Club and a former member of React Services. Charles was kindhearted by nature and would give the shirt off his back to any in need. He was well known for helping wherever he was needed, and he especially loved mowing friend’s and neighbor’s lawns. His endless willingness to help others granted him many friends and acquaintances over the years, he will be dearly missed by his family and community. Charles is survived by two sisters; Elsie “Louise” Winters; Deborah Sue McCraw; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is also survived by four close friends; Donna; Tammy; Cindy; and Valorie. In addition to his parents and wife, Charles was preceded in passing by; three brothers; Donald Harold Knapp; Dale Ivan Knapp; Dennis Leroy Knapp; his very close friend; Barbara McGee; and his beloved dog and best friend; Ozzy. Family and friends will be received on Sunday, July 30, 2023, from 1pm to 4pm at the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main Street, Brookville, PA 15825. A funeral service will take place on Monday, July 31, 2023, also at the funeral home and beginning at 11:00am. Interment will take place at Lakelawn Memorial Park, Winslow Twp., Jefferson Co., PA.
