Cecilia Beliveau Obituary

Cecilia Browning Beliveau passed away peacefully in Brookville, PA on July 21, 2024. She had been a resident at the McKinley Health Center at Laurelbrooke Landing for 4 years.

Cecilia was the daughter of Frances and Cecil Browning, born in Washington DC, and lived in Japan as a young girl, where her father was stationed in the Army. She loved to recount her memories of the tumultuous ocean passage to and from Japan by troop ship, strapped into her bunk to sleep and trying to maneuver in the dining room for meals in an oversized life jacket.

She leaves behind her 2 sons, Ben (Lisa) and Patrick, eight grandchildren – Amanda (Jared), Robert (Katie), Bryan (Summer), Izabella, Kyla (Isaac), Mylie Skye, Eddie; Patrick, fifteen great grandchildren - .Jazmin, Leylin, Gracelinn, Kinsley, Emberly, Miya, Hunter, Amara Iris, Lucy, Jauven, Luna, Elijah, Elizabelle, Ellie, Malikai; and her sister Lorraine Browning Powell.

After high school graduation in 1966, Cecilia worked in a variety of civil service positions beginning at the US Army Communications Command at Fort Huachuca, AZ; followed by the Corps of Engineers at Fort Ritchie, MD, and Frankfurt, Germany serving as the Executive Assistant to the Construction Division Director for European Operations. She and a close friend visited the Berlin Wall several weeks after it fell in November, 1989 and sledge-hammered out several large chunks of the wall and even bartered for a few soviet soldier’s headgear as they were selling their uniforms. Her Government career culminated in her final job as a GS-13 Management Analyst with the Defense Communications Agency retiring in 1996. She resided in Annandale Virginia for 3 decades and often volunteered teaching English as a second language. She traveled many places throughout Europe, England and Ireland and enjoyed taking cruises to Alaska, Norway and Bermuda with her husband Phil of 38 years.

She loved to play the piano and was always up for a game of racquetball and a good glass of iced tea. She especially enjoyed the many summer visits of Amanda, Robert, Bryan and Kyla, always leading the way zooming down the water rides at Six Flags America or wading in the ocean at Cape Cod. She was a master children’s clothes shopper, especially at Christmas time, buying every article of clothing that looked like it “might fit”.

She will be remembered as a kind and loving Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and wife.

A funeral mass will be held at the Immaculate Conception Church, 129 Graham Avenue, Brookville, PA on Friday, July 26 at 10am, followed by burial at Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Brookville, PA. Donations in her memory can be made to the Immaculate Conception Church, any catholic charity, or the charity of your choice.
