Catherine (Thompson) Painter

Catherine (Thompson) Painter, age 93, of Springtown, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2026. She was born in Walhalla, North Dakota, to Henry and Elizabeth (Frank) Thompson.

Catherine was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She worked in retail and loved camping, traveling, and playing cards—especially with family and friends.

She married James “Jim” L. Painter on September 8, 1979, and together they built a life full of love and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Elizabeth (Frank) Thompson; her beloved husband, James “Jim” L. Painter; brothers Wilford and Floyd; and sisters Elizabeth, Eileen, and Agnes.

Catherine is survived by her children: Sherry Barton; Bob (Cindy) Ballentine; Sue Ford; Brenda (Randy) Leuwerke; stepson Mike (Melinda) Painter; her brother Vernon Thompson (LaDean); twelve grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and her beloved dog, Sammy.

“Your love will carry us always, Mom.” Forever loved by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her faithful companion, Sammy. Rest in peace, Mama.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, February 12, 2026, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, at the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main Street, Brookville, PA 15825. A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 13, 2026, also at the funeral home, beginning at 11:00am, and officiated by Pastor David Blair. Interment will take place at Edeburn Cemetery.
