Betty June Crosby passed away April 2, 2025, at age 99 at her daughter's home in New Paris, Indiana. Born on March 9, 1926, Betty dedicated much of her life to caring for her family and serving her community with kindness and devotion.
Betty was the beloved wife of Robert H. Crosby, with whom she shared 67 wonderful years of marriage until his passing. Together, they built a family, and a life filled with love and mutual support.
Betty is survived by her children, Doris Hiles of Sarver, PA; Robert "Bob" (Cindy) Crosby of Reynoldsville, PA; June Mitchell of New Paris, IN; and Roger (Gail) Crosby of Dyer, IN. She also leaves behind a sister, D. Naomi Moore, 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband Robert; daughter Bobbie Jane Doane; parents William W. Brownlee and Edna Mae (Heeter) Brownlee; and nine siblings.
Betty's early education culminated in her studies at Moody Bible Institute and Philadelphia Bible College, which framed her lifelong commitment to her faith and community service.
During World War II, she contributed to the war effort by working at Sylvania in Brookville, PA. Her career also included significant roles at The Inman Home as a Nurse's Aid and at Brookville Hospital as an LPN/Operating Scrub Tech, where she provided compassionate care and support to many.
Betty's devout faith was expressed through her dedication to witnessing for her Lord and Savior. She was a constant source of strength and inspiration, often engaging in various projects alongside her husband, ranging from woodworking and quilting to cooking and farming. Her hobbies were extensions of her nurturing personality, always aimed at enriching the lives of those around her.
Family and friends are invited to gather and pay their respects on Friday, April 11, 2025, from 11 am to 1pm, at the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main Street, Brookville, PA 15825. A funeral service will take place immediately following the viewing, beginning at 1pm. Memorial donations can be made in her name to the Child Evangelism Fellowship, 104 W. Mahoning St Suite 305/306, Punxsutawney, PA 15767. Interment will take place at Riggs Cemetery, Warsaw Twp., Jefferson Co., PA.
