Barbara Ann (Barnett) Pape, passed away on June 3, 2026, while a patient at Punxsutawney Area Hospital following a short illness. She was born on January 6, 1938, to Lawrence and Evelyn Barnett. Barb was a lifelong resident of the Punxsy area.
In October of 1959, Barb married the love of her life, Michael Pape. Together they spent almost 60 years together before Michael’s passing. The family welcomed Barb with open arms. She was easy to love and Barb returned the love.
Barb worked at Loree Footwear for over 25 years in Rossiter and Big Run. She was also a caregiver at Wellington Heights. Barb was a converted Catholic.
In addition to her parents and husband, Barb was preceded in passing by her in-laws: Michael and Mary Pape, sister: Betty Kemp, brother: Albert Barnett; sister-in-law: Mary Gallingane; brother-in-law: Bill Rinehart.
Barb is survived by sisters: Judy (Joel) Brooks, Donna Rinehart; Kay James and companion John; brother-in-law: Carl Pape; sister-in-law: Fran Pape; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Barb was a kind soul filled with love and generosity. She was always ready to help anyone with cooking or baking, which she excelled in both. Her favorite holiday was Christmas and in their younger years, Barb and Mike would use their Christmas checks to spoil all the nieces and nephews. Barb loved to spend her time with her sister-in-law, Fran. They enjoyed shopping and playing the slots machines together. Barb also loved her dogs: Twinkle, Benji, and Annie.
Funeral arrangements were held privately to her family. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Fait - d'Argy Funeral Home, 117 N Jefferson St., Punxsutawney, PA 15767. Interment took place at Calvary Cemetery, Punxsutawney, Jefferson Co., PA. The final service was officiated by Father Mark Meholick.
