Alma Mae (Byerly) Lewis

Alma Mae (Byerly) Lewis, 89, of Brookville, PA, passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, while a patient at Penn Highlands Brookville Hospital. Alma was born on October 22, 1935, to the late Ralph and Mildred (Sowers) Byerly in Beaver Township, PA. Alma graduated from Clarion-Limestone School District with the Class of 1953. She married the love of her life, Dean Lamonte Lewis, on June 26, 1955, in Ohl, PA; Dean preceded Alma in passing on January 20, 2021. She had the most important job as a homemaker. She loved to take care of her husband and children. Alma was a member of the Stanton Community Church, Stanton Women of Worship, and the Pine Grove Sportsman Club. Alma enjoyed baking, cooking, gardening, and puzzles. She also enjoyed going to eat at Grandma’s Kitchen. Above all else, Alma loved spending time with her family and babysitting her grand puppy. Alma is survived by two sons; Steve (Peggy) Lewis of Brookville and Scott (Missy) Lewis of Brookville; one daughter: Marcy (Larry) Coleman of Brookville; one sister: Norma (Don) Knapp of Strattanville; one daughter in law: Becky (Woody) Wolfe of Brookville; five grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Alma is preceded in passing by one son: Craig Lewis; two infant children; and one sister: Dorothy Hoffman. Family and friends will be received on Friday, December 20, 2024, from 3pm to 7pm, at the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main Street, Brookville, PA 15825. A funeral service will take place immediately following the viewing, beginning at 7pm, and officiated by Pastor Tom Verner.
